About Donsö

Located in the southern archipelago of Gothenburg, Donsö is a flourishing island with approximately 1500 permanent inhabitants. From the original fishing community the island has taken its place as the third largest shipping community in the country. About sixty companies are registered here and several of them are within the shipping and maritime industry. Donsö is like the other islands in the southern archipelago when it comes to car traffic. There is none. You get around by bike, moped or golf cart. The island has two beautiful walking trails. One in the north and one in the south. The one in the north starts at Donsövallen. The south trail starts at Torholmen. You can expect beautiful views, tables to have a coffee at and the possibility of swimming on both trails. No matter where you are on Donsö during summer, you'll never be far from a refreshing bath. Near the guest harbour is Korsholmen. The outer pier contains a nice bathing jetty. On the east side of the island is Lökholmen. And if you walk along the ocean on the south side you'll come across a bath ladder every now and then, making an easy transit from cliff to water. Come and explore the island we call home and experience the life in the archipelago at its best.
